Silent Support Weekend is back for 2025
Down goes your noise, up goes their game! We’re asking spectators to dial down the noise from the sidelines and dial up the positivity
Silent Support Weekend is back to help young players to find their voice on the pitch, make their own decisions and enjoy their game…with no distracting noise from spectators on the sidelines.
The national Silent Support Weekend takes place 15-16 March. This is when youth teams up and down the country will be joining in.
During Silent Support Weekend, applause from spectators for good play – and quiet encouragement from coaches – is welcome. Everything else can have the weekend off.
How It Works
During Silent Support Weekend:
- Players continue to communicate and express themselves on the pitch as usual.
- Coaches provide limited support and encouragement, allowing players to develop their own decision-making skills.
- Spectators show their support through applause only, rather than shouting instructions or giving feedback.
How to get involved
We encourage all Sheffield & Hallamshire youth leagues, clubs, coaches, and parents to take part and support Silent Support Weekend. By working together, we can help create an environment where young players can develop, enjoy their football, and build confidence.
