Have your say on women’s recreational football opportunities
Want to help us grow our women’s recreational football sessions in Sheffield and Rotherham? Book your place on our upcoming Women's Recreational Football Forum to share ideas about how funding and resources can be used to develop the game.
With the UEFA Women's Euro 2022 competition coming to Sheffield and Rotherham in July, we have funding and resources available to push women's rec to the next level. But we want to do that collaboratively and in partnership with the community.
The forum will provide the women’s rec community with an opportunity to learn what has passed, what is happening now and what is coming. You’ll have chance to feed into those plans and have your say on current ideas and events or what you think might be missing or what additional support is needed to attract more players.
The one-hour online meeting is open to anyone who currently delivers or participates in a women's recreational football session in the South Yorkshire and surrounding area, as well as those interested in setting up a session in Rotherham or Sheffield.
It also acts as a great networking opportunity to meet other women's rec groups, share some best practice and see if you can arrange any friendly get togethers.
Sara Harnett, Women’s Recreational Football Officer, said: “We’ve seen more sessions start up across Sheffield and Rotherham involving a diverse range of women and we’re looking forward to hearing from current session providers and players about their successes. But this is also a chance to let us know what you’d like to see across the region in the run up to the WEUROS. In our last forum meeting, the idea for our Winter Fest was born, and that has since led to a follow-up Spring Fest taking place two days before the forum.”
The Women’s Recreational Football Forum takes place on Monday 25th April, 6.30-7.30pm via Microsoft Teams.
