It is with regret and deepest sadness that the Sheffield & Hallamshire County FA Board of Directors must inform you of the death of William (Bill)  Armstrong at the age of 90.  Bill was a popular figure amongst our football community. All those in attendance at the March 2020 Council meeting will I’m sure recall with fondness the celebrating of Bill’s 90th birthday, along with his high spirits and humorous response to Council.  

Bill served on the Board of Directors at the Sheffield & Hallamshire County FA and made an outstanding contribution to football, which was recognised through him being awarded life membership of the County FA Council.

I and my Board colleagues, along with members of the football family offer our sincere condolences to Bill’s family and friends at this difficult time
