Sheffield and Hallamshire County FA is delighted to announce that we have teamed up with Club 1879 – a new initiative by Doncaster Rovers FC aimed at supporting coaches, players and businesses with unique learning opportunities – to deliver a 9-part series of coach development workshops across the 2024/25 season.

Together, we aim to help coaches enhance their skills and knowledge by learning from coaches from the professional game.

This is an exciting addition to our coach development programme and means we’re offering more CPD opportunities for grassroots coaches than ever before!

Upcoming workshops

The workshops are available to coaches of all levels from across the County and aim to support coaches to increase their confidence and knowledge of coaching football.

All the workshops will take place at the Jibba Jabba restaurant at the Eco Power Stadium in Doncaster.

• Rosenshine’s Principles (Steve Welsh Head of Coaching) – Knowing the player as an individual. Thursday 26^th September, 5m-8pm.
• 1879 Coach Development CPD Event Thursday 7^th November 2024, 1.30pm-4pm.
• Ball Mastery (Dillon Sandiford, Lead Foundation Phase Coach) – Knowing the player as an individual. Thursday 28^th November 2024, 5-8pm.
• Defending the box (Lee Walshaw Lead YDP Coach) – Understanding coaching craft. Thursday 12^th December 2024, 5-8pm.
• Building the Attack (Paul Green, Lead U18’s Coach) – Understanding coaching craft. Thursday 23^rd January 2025, 5-8pm.
• Psychology of Team Building (Steve Welsh Head of Coaching) – Knowing the player as an individual. Thursday 27^th February 2025, 5-8pm.
• Under the Microscope (Paul McGuinnes) – Understanding game approach. Thursday 27^th March 2025, 5-8pm.
• Understanding the Principles of play (Cliff Byrne, DRFC Assistant Manager) – Understanding game approach. Thursday 17^th April 2025, 5pm-8pm.
• Managing the Difference (Dr Tom Mitchell) – Understanding the coaching craft. Thursday 15^th May 2025, 5-8pm.

How to book

The workshops are open to coaches of all levels in the Sheffield and Hallamshire region.

Each workshop has a £10 booking fee, and there is an opportunity to register to attend the full series of workshops for £80 – unlocking a £10 discount.
