League of the Year 2024: Rotherham & District Sunday League
We are delighted to announce that our external judging panel has chosen the Rotherham and District Sunday League (RDSL) as the winner of our League of the Year award as part of England Football’s Grassroots Football Awards.
This award recognises a league that has created a safe, fun and inclusive space, both on and off the pitch.
Formed in 1966, the league has over 60 adult men’s teams competing across five divisions. It is our region's largest open age 11v11 league and is constantly striving to grow and develop.
The league recently achieved England Football Accredited league status and has developed closer links with the local authority to improve facilities and environments. They also recently provided all their clubs with first aid kits and stand-in referee packs.
The league committee consists of fourteen individuals who all work tirelessly behind the scenes in various roles to ensure the league is successful.
We caught up with some of the League’s committee to find out more about their award win.
Any clubs wishing to join the Rotherham Sunday League are welcome to telephone Mark Pilley on 07483 220133 or email markpilleyrdsl@yahoo.co.uk
