Neurodiversity Awareness Training

Learn how to help neurodiverse individuals thrive at your club

Grassroots football volunteers from across region can now register to take part in a free Neurodiversity Awareness Training workshop.

The workshop, which will be delivered by Rachel Habergham, Emily Rowles and Alana Habergham-Rice from Kiveton Park FC, will take place on Monday 9th September, between 7pm – 8.30pm, at Middlewood Rovers JFC (S13 9AE).

What Is Neurodiversity?

Neurodiversity describes the idea that people experience and interact with the world around them in many different ways; there is no one ‘right’ way of thinking, learning and behaving and that differences are not viewed as deficits.

The word neurodiversity refers to the diversity of all people but is often used in the context of the autism spectrum disorder (ASD), as well as other neurological or developmental conditions such as ADHD or learning Disabilities.

Some estimates suggest that around twenty percent of the population could be neurodivergent in one way or another.

Who can attend?

This workshop is open to all and we would actively encourage coaches, referees and welfare officers to attend.

What can I expect to take away?

At the end of the session, you will have increased awareness of:

  • Neurodiversity and the conditions that are covered.
  • The impact some of the activities at a football club can have on a neurodiverse individual.
  • The changes you can make to improve inclusivity for neurodiverse individuals at your club.

How can I register?
