Match Preview | Maltby Main FC V Emley AFC
Maltby Main will come up against Emley AFC in the final of the Senior Cup, the fifth oldest surviving cup competition in the world, on Saturday 20th May at Doncaster Rovers’ Eco-Power Stadium in a 7.30pm kick off.
The two Northern Counties East League Premier Division sides will meet for the third time this season, with both league meetings ending in a draw.
Maltby ended the season with a respectable mid-table finish in the NCEL Premier Division, while Emley claimed an impressive third place finish, narrowly missing out on a play-off place in a strong campaign for the Pewits.
Maltby secured their place in a successive Senior Cup final by beating Sheffield FC on penalties, with goalkeeper Dylan Parkin scoring the winning penalty as the Miners won 3-2 on spit-kicks.
Maltby last won the Senior Cup in 1978 after beating Mexborough Town Athletic 2-1.
Emley ended a 21 year wait for a Senior Cup final appearance with a 7-0 win over Nostell Miners Welfare in the semi-final.
