Are you ready to step over the sidelines?
Thinking about volunteering for your local football club? Want to help coach or manage a team? Then the Stepping Over the Sidelines programme could be perfect for you!
The programme is designed for women and girls aged 16+ who are thinking about getting involved in volunteering and coaching within football. Don’t worry if you’ve never played or coached football before, you are exactly the type of person this programme is for.
What will I get from the programme?
You’ll get the opportunity to learn more about the basics of coaching and gain valuable insights from our community champions, Hannah Wright and Kerry Clifford.
Hannah and Kerry will support you to build your confidence, identify the transferable skills you already have that you could use as a coach, and act as a mentor for six months as you start your coaching and volunteering journey.
Sheffield & Hallamshire County FA will support you to find a suitable opportunity to start your journey into women's and girls' football coaching. We will link you to a Weetabix Wildcats or Squad Girls Football provider OR to girls football clubs if you are not already part of a football community.
Who is the programme for?
Maybe your daughter, son, brother or sister currently plays football, and you’d like to get more involved to help the team out? Whatever the reason, this is the perfect opportunity to step over the sidelines.

When does the programme start?
The Stepping Over the Sidelines programme kicks off in July and is split into three modules.
Module 1
Topic: Introduction to the Stepping over the sidelines programme
Date: Saturday 1st July 2023, 10am – 12pm
Venue: English Institute of Sport Sheffield (S9 5DA)
Module 2
Topic: Learning fun and engaging games
Date: Wednesday 13th September 2023, 6pm – 8pm
Venue: English Institute of Sport Sheffield (S9 5DA)
Module 3
Topic: Putting your skills into practice
Date: Thursday 2nd November 2023, 6pm – 8pm
Venue: English Institute of Sport Sheffield (S9 5DA)
All participants will eligible to receive a fully funded place on the FA Introduction to coaching in football course upon completion of the three modules.
Due to a high level of interest our first programme is now full! However, we have scheduled a second programme which will kick off in January 2024 and are starting to take expressions of interest.
