Women’s recreational flexi league coming to Rotherham
Whether it’s been years since you last played football or you’re a complete beginner who’s been inspired by the Lionesses, a brand-new women’s recreational flexible football league is coming to Rotherham this November.
Sheffield & Hallamshire County FA has partnered with Rotherham Football Centre to launch a small side league in response to growing calls for a centralised place for women’s recreational football groups to play each other.
This regular flexi league will provide the many women’s recreational teams that have formed in our region an opportunity to improve their fitness, boost mental health, develop friendships, and have fun.
League details:
- Sessions will be held fortnightly on Sundays between 6-8pm at Rotherham Football Centre in Eastwood.
- The match durations will be 20-25 minutes per half and all fixtures will have an FA qualified official present.
- Results will be listed on the league’s FA Full-Time platform so you can easily check your team’s fixtures, tables, and stats.
- Players must be at least 16 to play and not already signed to a team playing 11-a-side football in a registered league.
The new flexi league starts in November and will run until the spring with a short break over the Christmas period. At the end of the season, there will be a celebration with various awards for the overall league winner plus many more.
Sara Harnett, Women’s Recreational Football Officer said: “We’re so excited to be working with Rotherham Football Centre to get this league up and running. All of the groups involved in the festivals we have run have brought such energy and excitement to the events that we look forward to seeing them in this league, as well as groups that we haven’t yet come across.”
Rotherham Football Centre is based at Eastwood Trading Estate, Chesterton Road, Eastwood, Rotherham S65 1SU.
